Trailblazing treasure hunt

Today we arrived late to Forest Friday,  as Evan hurt his elbows and needed time to recover and feel sad, so I asked Becky to take Autumn to Forest Friday, whilst we stayed at home and cuddled.  It is times like this where the fluidity of home education makes so much sense.  No worries about being late or anything  like that.

On arrival we got stuck into helping Becky put up a hammock,  using my handy folding knife.  (a recent,  and rather loved purchase,  deemed necessary for our outdoor education!)
After constructing the double decker element of the rope swing,  I got stuck in with the boys making a treasure hunt. Using the stick book again as inspiration,  love that book,  we set off with stick arrows,  false paths with dead ends. The boys found a den whichthey hid in with the treasure,  and sent me off to get the others to follow the trail.  Everyone loved it, and found the false paths great fun.  Next thing we knew I was supporting other children making their treasure hunt which the boys then followed.  After this, another trail was made with loads of tricks and false paths... Evan had the idea of playing around with the clues by putting crosses on the actual way we should go, rather than having them signify that it was the incorrect path.  They then followed the wrong path, and told us to follow them.  They were very pleased with this tricky version they developed.

Another wonderful Forest Friday. Thank you to all who came and joined it.  We loved it. (and to Becky who brought Autumn for me whilst I stayed at home and looked after Evan)  There were loads of people there, didn't get chance to chat to many, only really old friends as focused on the treasure hunt.
